Whatever other stylistic shifts may occur, whatever musical and generational revolutions may take place, the four-to-the- floor keeps on keeping on. And whatever subdivisions of the style might rise and fall – whether it’s soulful house, deep house, tech-house, funky house, Joey Essex chart house or any other version – the purer and more stripped-back it is, the more completely it endures.
